Letter of Intent Submitted to Governor’s Center for Local Government Services

On May 22nd, 2024 at their regularly scheduled public meeting Jenkintown Borough Council unanimously approved submitting a “Letter of Intent” to the Governor’s Center for Local Government Services a division of the Department of Community and Economic Development administering the ‘Peer Assistance Program’.

The “Letter of Intent” has now been submitted and requested assistance in areas of Police Management, Fire Services, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to include a ‘Police Cost Benefit Analysis’.

Jenkintown Borough, Montgomery County is accepting applications for part-time Parking Enforcement Officer(s).

Hourly Rate: $20.00, FLSA Non-Exempt, Schedule: 25 to 30 Hours PER Week

Reports to Chief of Police

The primary purpose of this position is to provide parking enforcement and community safety support to the Police Department, serving as a first contact with the public, performing a variety of complex and technical customer service functions which allows the Police Department to provide residents and business owners quality service. Responsible for enforcement of parking and Borough ordinances and issuing parking/fire lane/handicap tickets. Assist with the record keeping function of Parking Enforcement activities; Provide testimony at judicial hearings and trials when required, interacts with members of the business community and the public. Attends meetings, mandatory training, and educational seminars; Collect money from parking meters; maintain and repair meters. Cover school crossings when school crossing guards are not available or when staffing requires; Interacts with department employees, the public, governmental, and Borough officials in a courteous and professional manner; operates office equipment; other related duties as necessary to support the Parking Enforcement functions. Other duties include: Providing traffic control, Assist with public relations, and Covering traffic posts during special events that occur within the Borough.
